The APOLLO S from Ultradyne provides competition level recoil reduction and muzzle control. By using a scientific approach and studying thousands of recoil events, Ultradyne engineers have struck a balance between extreme recoil reduction, virtual elimination of muzzle rise, and less aggressive venting of gas. The Apollo S is perfect for shooters who want drastic recoil reduction with less perceived blast. The perfectly sized 5-Port design evens out the recoil event which produces an ultra smooth shot like no other compensator. A timing nut is included for easy installation.

Muzzle Device Knowledge
Muzzle Devices offer numerous benefits to the shooter including allowing for more accuracy and quicker follow up shots. Reducing Recoil is often the primary goal and while low recoil reduces muzzle rise it does not totally eliminate it. A well-designed Muzzle Device will incorporate features to address Muzzle Rise as well. Reduced Recoil and Muzzle Rise are both accomplished by redirecting expanding gases. It is important for the shooter to understand that redirecting gas has consequences. Redirected gas away from the bullet path helps accuracy and speed for the shooter but also creates more sound, concussion, and unburnt gas particles to contend with. It is vital that the shooter understand the Redirected Gas Path (RGP) for the Muzzle Device they choose.
RGP direction and volume are determined by the Muzzle Device ports. The more gas volume that is redirected the higher the performance of the Muzzle Device. Many high performance Muzzle Devices can turn gas at an extreme angle rearward and the shooter must be comfortable that body parts are positioned on the firearm so not to be negatively impacted. It is important to understand that RGP is not accurately definable as different ammunition using the exact same firearm/Muzzle Device combination will vary. Atmospheric pressure, temperature and elevation also effect powder burn and expanding gas effects in the RGP.
Ultradyne offers different Muzzle Devices that redirect gases at varying angles to provide a muzzle device option for every shooter. With this being said, it is important for the shooter to understand their proximity to the Muzzle Device itself and determine if the RGP will cause problems. For example, the RGP on a traditional M4 16” barrel with a combat forearm equipped with an Apollo Max will bypass a 5’9” shooter totally, however the RGP on a gun that is equipped with a fully extended hand guard and 20” barrel could possibly impact the arm of a 6’6” shooter that uses a fully extended arm style grip. It is truly up to the shooter to determine the ideal set up for an acceptable Redirected Gas Path (RGP) for the ammo, firearm and individual shooting style to be used.

I got this thing for my AR and I am running some hot loads. I was stunned on how much recoil reduction it provides. It went to almost no recoil at all and I have no other recoil mitigation systems on the rifle. I have to admit that it does blow back a lot of gas but it was well diverted so bust rise was minimal when shooting prone. Overall it’s a great choice. Got my time down on stages quite a bit. It made me incline towards buying the Max for my 6.5

Bought this for my daughters AR build. It almost eliminates all the recoil and muzzle rise. It will blow dry your hair if standing to one side of the shooter. It also increased the noise a good bit making it very load especially under cover or inside, dont forget the hearing protection. I will be getting another for my Grendel. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend! Bought this a little bit ago for my 308, but hadn’t had the chance to try it out until recently. Before installing, I had quite a bit of muzzle rise and really felt the recoil. Install was pretty straight forward. I’m a bit picky so spent a little time to get it perfect, but thankfully it’s easy to adjust. After installing and test firing, virtually no muzzle rise at all! Obviously still feel some recoil, but drastically reduced. It’s definitely much louder now though. I will say, if you’re the one shooting it’s not as noticeable and life is grand. However, if you’re standing near by (even behind a bit) you will not only be met with the loudness but will definitely feel the gas blow back – might make for some slightly annoyed neighbors at the range. Overall though, I am really impressed and beyond happy. Final piece of the puzzle to finish my build perfectly.

Purchased this Apollo S brake in .308 for my son’s Bergara B14 HMR. He loves the rifle but found the recoil to be a bit heavy for a days worth of shooting. We installed the brake which took only a few minutes and torqued it to spec. We went to the range and were astounded by how well this device manages recoil. The Bergara .308 is now fun to shoot. I am COMPLETELY sold on Ultradyne & their products. My recent purchase was an Apollo S muzzle brake. I love the recoil and muzzle rise reduction. Now my fellow peers at the range aren’t very happy with me as it surely made my rifle much louder but oh well that’s what ear protection is for. 223 Wylde has low recoil straight out of the box but add an Ultradyne muzzle brake and recoil is basically zero. I’ve purchased other muzzle brakes from Ultradyne (Pulse) and they are just as quality of a product.

It works and works very well. On my 7.62×39, the recoil is hardly felt and no muzzle flip. But when I say, wear ear protection, please wear ear protection. It’s very loud for the shooter. For anyone behind the shooter or the the side, it’s not so ear piercing. Get you one!!!!
